Employer Breakfast Launches National Apprenticeship Week in Lambeth

Lambeth proudly kicked off National Apprenticeship Week 2026 by hosting an Employer Breakfast at Lambeth Town Hall, welcoming 33 local employers and partners committed to strengthening inclusive apprenticeship opportunities across the borough.

With Lambeth’s youth unemployment rate remaining above the London and national average, and many Disabled residents currently out of work, inclusive apprenticeships play a vital role in ensuring equitable access to employment and career development opportunities. The event created a collaborative space for employers to explore practical ways to support inclusive recruitment and expand opportunities for local residents.

During the session, attendees had the opportunity to:

  • Connect with fellow local organisations

  • Learn more about supported employment approaches

  • Explore practical strategies for developing inclusive apprenticeships

  • Share experiences, challenges, and best practice around inclusive recruitment

The event featured an inspiring address from Cllr Cameron, Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion, who highlighted the importance of inclusive growth and accessible pathways into employment. Thanks were also extended to Ian Davis, Chief Executive of Lambeth Council, and Matthew Dibbens, Director of Regeneration, Growth & Investment, for their continued leadership in championing skills development, economic inclusion, and opportunity across Lambeth.

Lambeth Council expressed sincere appreciation to the employers who attended and contributed to the discussion, including: Capita; Higgins; Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing; Lee Marley; London Square; Construction Youth Trust; Taylor Woodrow; London South Bank University (LSBU); Berkeley Group; Hemiko; Lambeth Made; Unity Works; Multiplex; IRMO; South Thames College Group; NRT; Thermoserv Ltd; Szerelmey; Western Riverside Waste Authority; Titan Alex Services; and Wates.

Their ongoing commitment to supporting residents and helping to create inclusive pathways into employment is instrumental in driving positive change across the borough.
